I currently day trade the Futures market and would like to bring the same strategy over into the BTC markets.

Just looking for a reliable exchange that offers candlestick charting, multiple time frames, and basic indicators. I thought Gemini was going to be a winner for me but upon creation of Sandbox account I noticed their charting is too basic not even candlestick. Any Bitstamp users care to chime in on their experience? It seems like at first glance their charting would be sufficient for my needs but it seems to be lagging my browser even though my PC is built to the max might be cause I have all my other trading platforms running also.

Open to all suggestions.

All input and advice is appreciated, thanks! You can check charting for many exchanges including candlesticks at cryptowatch or TradingView. Then use the exchange interface to just place trades. Thanks for the reply. That being said there is no spread and liquidity is always available. Won't there be some price discrepancy if I use a different charting source and order entry? I would prefer it to be all in one if possible.

Look at charts on the exchange that you trade on and look at index and other major exchanges to get a sense of where the market as a whole is going. Is your only criteria the charts that the platform offers? If so then there are many websites that offer charts from live data from exchanges.

They also offer very competitive fees, starting at 0. Reliability is somewhat more difficult to measure, exchanges go down all the time. I have not really measured this, however I would recommend that you maybe utilize multiple exchanges in case one goes down.

If you want to use leverage, then you will not be able to use Bitfinex as an American I think. However not everyone that day trades is going to use leverage as this increases both the risk and costs of a trade. API stands for application programming interface and will not be of use to you unless you want to write your own programs. Chart w TradingView or Coinigy - you can place trades and chart using Coinigy. BitMEX although you must use VPN for non-USA IP to make it work and also not be overly concerned with following all the rules.

I would never do it but some friends do. It seems like there is a lot of coding needed to get an Websocket or API setup, something i know nothing about.

Is all of this really necessary in order to trade BTC? You can easily watch charts of stamp and finex and still trade Gemini. If you want to read this market you dont look at Gemini anyways.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up going with Bitfinex. I like their charting. Only thing I wish is that tick time frames were available to make trading this lack of liquidity a bit easier but so far I'm pretty satisfied. Would really like reliability and liquidity also. Could you explain what API's are and how they work? Seems basic but o. This is an archived post. You won't be able to vote or comment.
